Are There any Answers?
There are just so many questions out there that could use or need an answer, you know? We tend to just go day to day not thinking about deep things because that might require us to change the way we live and we don’t want to do that because it might throw a monkey wrench into our selfish mentalities. There’s something in us that wants to defy God even while we spend our whole lives seeking to find God and figure out who he is. Some of us find out and reject what we know, some of us figure out who He is and then convince ourselves that He doesn’t exist (since he doesn’t fit our “idea” of who God ought to be). Some of those people are born and die without ever knowing Him or doing a thing (from our perspective) to improve their lives because they are aborted or born mentally or physically deficient in whatever capacity. It should be pointed out that those people I’ve just mentioned are blessed in a special way, as well as just responsible before God as we are. God chose the weak to put the strong to shame. The body works one way and lasts only a specified amount of time while the soul is eternal. For the remainder of the population, some are led to him and receive the gift of Yeshua Christ and learn to grow stronger, each day becoming more Christ-like. Some follow after satan and all that he offers which is nothing more than a counterfeit of what God offers, the only difference being that as the Proverbs puts it: Every way seemeth right unto a man, but the end of him is the way of death spiritual and physical. (Proverbs 16:25, NIV, Italics, mine)
People are strange and fascinating. We classify people as good people, bad people, extraordinary people, ordinary people, and unordinary people. We all exist among us and live side by side with the other groups of people I’ve mentioned and never seem to think about the common denominator- we are all people. We are all made of dust, we all breath air to live, we all need food and drink. In essence, we are the same, whether we have money, power, influence, or poverty.
I’ve seen people who claim to be Christians who act worse than most of the non-Christians I’ve met in my lifetime and I know people who reject the name of Christ and yet act more holy than those Christians mentioned earlier. Why is that? Why is it that many people who are washed in the blood of the Lamb spit in his face while those who claim not to know him could and do set an example of what we are to be and who we are to be?
Like I mentioned: there are so many questions. There are so many ways to doing things but fundamentally it boils down to two ways of doing things- a right way and a wrong way. We must all answer to our consciences, which God gave to each of us (whether we use it or ignore it). The Bible says that all things are lawful but not all things are expedient, all things are lawful but all things are not edifying. I think that the meaning to this verse is clear, but think about this: if this is true, isn’t it possible that the opposite might be true as well? Let’s take marijuana for an example. Everyone knows it is not “legal” but not everyone knows that it is actually good for you, taken in proper doses. Like everything else, we shouldn’t overdo it either, yet we have alcohol being sold by the millions of bottles a year. Not only that, but the same people who sell alcohol are running alcoholic treatment centers. They are called non profit organizations but think about this: someone has to pay for these places to exist and run and function and all that money is taxed so in the long run, the government is running the show and paying for both the alcohol and the treatment centers.
I don’t think that it’s good at all. I believe that God created marijuana seeds and plants just as much as he created any other kind of seed and said that it was good. Psalms 104:14 says, “He causes the grass to grow for the cattle and herb for the service of man; that he might bring forth food out of the earth.” (KJV) Genesis 1: 29 says “And God said, ‘Behold I’ve give you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.’” (KJV) Verse 31 says, “And God saw everything that he had made and behold, it was very good, and the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” (KJV) Unfortunately, pot has been incorporated in with drugs such as crack cocaine and heroin and so the government, through no understanding of my own has determined that they can control what we put into our bodies, not thinking about the fact that not all drugs work the same) regardless of the fact that they can’t control issues such as obesity, which leads to a host of physical illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, etc., and teen pregnancy (since we refuse to teach abstinence before marriage, because God forbid we should foist our “religious intolerance” on others), and my personal albatross- abortion, which is murder any way you put it. Think about this before you argue with me: if a pregnant woman gets killed in a car accident they can and do legally charge the perpetrator with 2 counts of murder regardless of her due date (since it’s mandated by law that a fetus isn’t viable up until a certain point in the pregnancy), but if a woman kills her own baby it’s legal and quote: her choice. Sure, I can get into all the facts that are brought up, but whenever I hear them all I hear is a whole lot of excuses and justifications. I don’t care what kinds of excuses you make up, what justifications you can contrive, what bogus laws you can create. They are nothing more than satanic excuses. I think that the very fact that the two women involved in Roe v Wade is now dedicated pro-life supporters should prove that. Simply put, sin is sin; no matter what way you try to cut it. I would even be so bold as to say that I believe it would be beneficial and even prudent to legalize all drugs. There’s something programmed into human beings that wants us to do what we are not allowed to do. If we legalized drugs of all kinds, the “secrecy” would be out and there would be more of a motivation for getting help for drug addicts than currently exist. I know programs exist for those afflicted with this addiction, and the government probably feels it’s doing the best it can, and these programs cost money but I feel that the cost would be far reduced by the success rate. As I stated before- sometimes the best way to break the power of sin is to bring it out into the open.
Everyone, no matter who he or she is, is fallible and thus subject to sin and failure, and as a result, here’s a question worth considering: if we are under such an attack as people, what and where is the hope? Simple. The answer lies in a man who came to earth over two thousand years ago to take on the curse of sin and die as a ransom for all. This isn’t news and as my wise husband has pointed out, the Bible has been translated into thousands of languages all over the world. As it is written in Mark 13:10, “And the gospel must be published among all nations.” So the issue really isn’t about converting anyone anymore, it’s about letting God lead him or her to us and being faithful with the message of salvation. It’s about practicing the true meaning of religion, not what the world has led us to believe that it is. Religion isn’t a thing, an entity; it’s a practice. It’s a life style. James 1:27 says the following: “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” (KJV) That’s it!” I believe this. James said so under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. What’s to argue? It only makes sense. The principles of salvation are simple- believe in Yeshua and believe that he rose from the dead and we are saved. It’s just that simple. The problem comes in when we spend all day and night trying to please God, trying to make ourselves worthy, doing all this work when the fact is that the work has already been done. If we could accomplish this on our own, then Christ’s time on earth was a monumental waste of time. Christ came to earth for a reason. He accomplished many things on this earth during his 33 years but fundamentally he came for one purpose- to save us from our sins. Part of that stay on earth was, as God recently revealed to me, so that Yeshua could fully understand what it is like to be human, to- let me quote it exactly- I actually wrote it down: “Yeshua came to earth to walk among us so he would understand from a human perspective. By doing so, he could fully understand how we think, feel, and respond.” He was called, “Master”, by his followers, because, he had mastered us as well as his father’s wisdom.
Ok, on to something new. I sit here right at this moment listening to the news about what happened in New Orleans. I’m hearing of reports (unofficial) of raping babies and young people. I’m hearing about both the police and the residents looting the city, etc. Here’s my question- why do we live in a society where people are so connected to “stuff” that when something like this happens, we have to respond like animals? Why do we have to have a tragedy to flush out the animalistic people in our society- those who prey on children- God’s most precious gift, which, incidentally, is also why abortion is so very wrong. In encouragement, it should also be pointed out that tragedy can also bring out the very best in people. After the attack on September 11, 2001, for a brief, beautiful moment, the churches banded together in harmony. Pastors, laypeople, were all united in their own churches, and prayers being directed to the God of heaven, exactly where they were supposed to go.
I just heard the most ignorant statement from some lost soul (my flesh wants to say something different) in Washington who happens to preside over the Drug Administration or something like that. He said that if we aborted all black babies the crime rate would go down. My God, what kind of world do we live in? From what I’ve seen, there are some pretty questionable black people and there are some wonderful black people. I am married to one. There are also some horrible white people. In point of fact, the majority of serial killers and mass murderers are white men. Besides, what the heck does race have to do with anything? White people, Chinese, Native American, I don’t care what your race is, you are just as likely to commit a crime or make a mistake, for it is written, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23 NIV) I don’t care what race or gender we are; crime is not a stranger to any of us. To be fair and give the same individual who made that comment his credit, he also said that that option wasn’t an option and shouldn’t even be considered.
The world as we know it is coming to an end. Yeshua is coming back. While he was still on earth, Yeshua (Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21) told his disciples what the signs preceding his return would be. He warned them that there would be wars and rumors of war, earthquakes in various places. He also said that the gospel must be published throughout the world, thanks to traveling missionaries and the World Wide Web, which has happened. Despite the signs right in front of us, many Christians, no- especially Christians who ought to be paying attention- act like we are going to be here on earth forever and make no preparation whatsoever. Other places in the Scriptures tell that the signs will include disobedience to parents, children killing their parents, parents killing their children, the love of many waxing cold. Sound familiar? One day, very soon, Yeshua is going to return and I envision myself talking to someone and I simply disappear, leaving the person I was talking saying, “What the world? Where’d she go?”
I don’t want to get into the logistics of what’ll happen after the rapture. The fact is that I won’t be here- I’ll be with Yeshua in heaven waiting for the end. I believe that the general principal behind the Left Behind books is accurate, deadly accurate, despite the flack that Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye have taken. In point of fact, I have found that the more reputational beatings an author takes, the closer they are to the truth. I don’t want to sound cold when I say that I won’t be here and that the horrors that will occur will not affect me. The fact is that the time to come to know Christ is now- before the choice is literally life or death. Incidentally, at that time, choosing life or death is really reversed. Think about it: you choose life and get the mark, and that means that you have chosen death for the last time. The opposite is also true. Once the mark is refused and the Christian chooses death, they will get the crown of LIFE that lasts for all eternity, not to mention the crown of martyr.
